PETALING JAYA Nov 24 (FMT): The saga revolving around Low Taek Jho \u2013 the fugitive financier in the centre of the 1MDB scandal \u2013 will be turned into a miniseries by the creator of the award-winning show \u201cHouse of Cards\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beau Willimon\u2019s series will also focus on the state investment arm, according to Malaysiakini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It will be based on the book titled \u201cBillion Dollar Whale: The Man Who Fooled Wall Street, Hollywood, and the World\u201d by journalists Tom Wright and Bradley Hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The series will also be co-produced by SK Global, which previously financed \u201cCrazy Rich Asians\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Michelle Yeoh, who had starred in \u201cCrazy Rich Asians\u201d, is also set to produce the miniseries<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard to overstate the cultural impact of this story in Asia and around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s both a tale of financial greed and deceit, and a darkly comedic social satire,\u201d SK Global co-CEOs John Penotti and Charlie Corwin were quoted as saying by the portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Willimon and fellow executive producer Jordan Tappis said they were thrilled \u201cto be able to bring this incredible story to life for a global audience\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this month, home minister Hamzah Zainudin admitted that local and international authorities were still trying to establish the exact whereabouts of Low, better known as Jho Low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Red Notice has been issued against the Penang-born businessman by Interpol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
