KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (Bernama) — The national golf squad is on\u00a0track to meet its\u00a0silver and bronze medal targets at the SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, next month, says Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) president Tan Sri Anwar Mohd Nor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the medal target was based on the performance of the athletes who had shown vast improvements during training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Golfer Ervin Chang, who is targeted to win at least the bronze, is seen to have a good chance as he had experience from\u00a0the previous two editions of the SEA Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“He managed to finish in the fourth position at the time, so with his current performance I am confident he can have a podium finish,” he told reporters here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anwar said the squad would leave early on May 4 to adjust to the competition venue, before competing from May 13 to 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, national coach Shairul Erwin Samsudin placed high confidence in his charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have a chance to compete for medals, so I hope all the players can compete at their best throughout the competition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The squad comprises male athletes Ervin, K. Rhaasrikanesh, Marcus Lim and A Nateeshvar, while Jeneath Wong, Mirabel Ting and Ng Jing Xuen make up the women exponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hanoi SEA Games is scheduled to take place from May 12 to 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
