KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 (Bernama) — Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is issuing commemorative coins in conjunction with the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia\u2019s (LKIM) 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement today, the central bank said the coins were launched by the Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee at an event at Wisma LKIM on April 14, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The commemorative coins are being\u00a0issued in two denominations —\u00a0coloured silver commemorative coin (proof) with a face value of RM10 and Nordic gold brilliant uncirculated (BU) commemorative coin with a RM1 face value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BNM said the first coin, made of fine silver with 92.5 purity and weighing 31 grammes, will be sold at RM253 each. The mintage quantity is 1,000 pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Nordic gold coin, meanwhile, weighs 8.5 grammes and is made of copper and several other metals. With a mintage quantity of 10,000 pieces, it will be sold at RM13.20 apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BNM said these commemorative coins are also available for sale in a set of two, comprising\u00a0one coloured sterling silver proof coin and one Nordic gold proof coin. Each set\u00a0is priced at RM308.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 1,000 sets will be available for purchase,\u201d the central bank said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To provide a fair opportunity for members of the public to buy these limited-edition coins, there will be a purchase limit of one set of two, one coloured sterling silver coin (proof) and up to five Nordic gold (BU) coins per person, BNM said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMembers of the public are advised to place their orders through the BNM online system and not with or through any other party or unauthorised ordering facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll orders will be considered, and there will be no preference given to orders based on the order date and time. In the event of oversubscription, balloting will take place,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
