Futsal: 20 players called up for SEA Games centralised training

KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 (Bernama) — A total of 20 players have been called up for the national men’s futsal centralised training camp ahead of the Hanoi SEA Games in Vietnam next month.
Of the 20 players, national men’s futsal head coach Chiew Chun Yong has retained all 16 players from the team who competed in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand in April while the other four players called up were Farikh Khabibor Rahman, Hikmal Firdaus Darul Ridzuan, Aqil Khalis Adli Khairuz and Nur Hazim Suleiman.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), in a statement today, announced that the men’s national futsal squad would undergo training at the FAM Futsal Arena in Kelana Jaya from April 29 to May 2.
“The final squad of 16 players will leave for Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on May 3 to play in several friendly matches. They will then fly to Hanoi on May 8 for the SEA Games, where the matches will be played in a round-robin format,” added the statement.
Malaysia are set to take on Thailand on May 11 followed Vietnam (May 14), Indonesia (May 16) and Myanmar (May 20). All matches will be played at the Ha Nam Indoor Stadium.
The national men’s futsal team’s best achievement at the biennial Games winning the silver medal twice in the 2007 edition in Thailand and the 2017 edition in Kuala Lumpur.
