Prasarana invites Penang commuters to participate in open payment system trial

GEORGE TOWN, June 14 (Bernama) — Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus) will implement a pilot project for an open payment system for Rapid Penang bus services, in support of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad’s (Prasarana) digitisation aspirations.
The justPay open payment system used for this pilot project will provide an alternative fare payment mode through the QR (Quick Response) code technology and e-Wallet application.
Rapid Bus chief executive officer Muhammad Yazurin Sallij said the prototype of the justPay application had been tested a few months ago and the proof of concept phase will be conducted involving a larger sample of Rapid Penang customers.
This limited testing process is only done on two routes that have been identified for this system trial, namely route 101 (Weld Quay-Teluk Bahang) and route 613 (Penang Sentral-Padang Serai) and is expected to be completed in August.
“We invite users of the Rapid Penang service to come forward and test this justPay open payment system. Testers can register on the website www.justpay.net.my and download the justPay application from the Google Play Store or App Store,” he said in a statement here today.
Muhammad Yazurin said the participation date is from June 18 to Aug 17 and all comments will be taken into account before the system is fully implemented.
He said the justPay application was developed through a collaboration between Prasarana’s subsidiary, Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd (PRIDE) and Community Marketplace Technology Sdn Bhd.
“Passengers are advised to browse the Rapid Penang social media site to get more information on this pilot project,” he said.
