PETALING JAYA: MySejahtera will be accepted as proof of full vaccination for Malaysians seeking to travel to the US, according to its embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Those travelling to the US will also need to present proof of a negative Covid-19 test, it said.

In a video uploaded today titled “Jom Travel Ke US!”, an embassy staff member said proof of vaccination is accepted from “official sources” such as MySejahtera, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or other certificates issued by national authorities.

The video also clarified that the US would admit travellers who had been administered any vaccine that has received emergency-use listing by the World Health Organization or the authorisation from the US Food and Drug Administration.

This includes locally available vaccines produced by Pfizer/BioNTech, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, and Johnson & Johnson.

Whether one has received a booster shot or not does not affect their eligibility to travel to the US, the embassy staff said in the video.

The opening of international borders today marks the first time non-essential international travellers will be allowed into the US since the country’s borders were closed last March by then president Donald Trump, a decision that was upheld even when his successor, Joe Biden, assumed office this year.
