KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 (Bernama) — Zulaikah Nurziana Nasser extended her lead in the girls’ category in the second round of the 12th Tan Sri Muhyiddin (TSM) Golf Challenge, today.
The tournament held in the West Course, Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) saw the United States-based golfer add a second-round 75 to her opening 71 yesterday to top the leaderboard on two-over 146.
The 20-year-old led by three shots over Ashley Goh (74-75) and Liyana Durisic (72-77) in joint second place for a total of 149 and Ng Jing Xuen in fourth spot (79-73) with a total of 152.
“Yesterday I just handled the course a little bit better, less mistakes. I feel that the pin positions were pretty tough today, but I managed to come back with an okay score,” said Zulaikah in a statement shared by the organiser today.
Meanwhile, the boys’ category saw a tight race between Adam Ariff Madzri (73-70) and first-round leader Malcolm Ting (72-71) as both golfers shared top spot on one-under 143.
Breathing down their necks just one shot behind were two players from Malaysia’s SEA Games gold medal-winning men’s team – Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh who shot a superb 67 after an opening 77 yesterday and Marcus Lim (74-70).
The three-day tournament ends tomorrow.
