Perak wants more RT Areas to strengthen community unity

IPOH, July 21 (Bernama) — The Perak government is always open to receiving applications for the setting up of Rukun Tetangga Areas (KRT) towards conducting more neighbourhood activities and strengthening unity among the local communities.

State Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, National Integration and Civil Society Committee chairman, Datuk Abdul Yunus Jamahri said the additional sectors from 580 KRT currently in the 12 districts had been based on the need and applications received.

“The government is always open to the establishment of more KRT because with more KRT, we will receive a bigger allocation from the Ministry of National Unity, but this will depend on the applications from the communities and the current need.

The unity administrators at the state and district levels will process each additional application and if all the regulations set can be met, there will be no problems of getting the approval at the ministerial level,” he said at the oral question-and-answer session at the State Legislative Assembly sitting, here, today.

Abdul Yunus (Bersatu-Kuala Kurau) was responding to the additional question from Datuk Samsudin Abu Hassan (BN-Ayer Kuning) on whether there was the proposed creation of more KRT for more encompassing operations in the state.

He said the government had approved an allocation of RM3.1 million and the Perak branch of the National Unity and Integration Department had channelled an annual grant of RM6,000 to each of 518 active KRT in the state.
